Dec. 1999 MASH BOTY Competition

For 5 gallons:

In 1.5 gallons filtered water, added malt, honey & gypsum. Brought to boil, added hops, star anise & vanilla per schedule above. Added grated lemon zest at end of boil. Did not strain lemon zest, but removed spent star anise & hops. Transferred to glass carboy, cooled & pitched yeast. Fermented at 70F 28 days in primary. O.S.G. = 1.080. F.S.G. = 1.021
