It was a cool and dark night and the brewers started to gather at the ship. With bottles in hand and brewing stories fresh in their minds. No this is not a romance novel it is the fourth Monday of the month at the Titanic Brewery and we had our meeting. Fifteen members attended this months meeting and the group was in good spirits. As I went over the Coconut Cup final accounting report the group sighed, enough with the frigging cup. Ok the final is that we did not loose our shirt and empty the bank account we actually add to it. With that done the last order of business was to return the Coconut Cup Trophy back to its place of honor above the bar at the ship.
Denise our competition goddess went over the up and coming Hurricane Blow Off competition. You can register on line and we may try to do a group shipping or road trip to Big Bear Brewery. Entries are due by April 11, 2008. Next if you can judge or steward they have asked for our help. April 19, 20, 25 and 26 are the judging date at present, subject to change. So let's rally the troops and do some judging. Also National Homebrew Competition is coming and the entry deadline is March 27 to April 11.
The BOTY competition came next and we had five entries for this months style of Light Hybrid Beers BJCP category 6. We started with Blonde ale by Scott and Denise and then a Kolsch by Jeff. The American wheat beer came next made by Russell followed by an American Rye by Brian and bring up the rear was my American Rye Entry. After all the points where added up the third place went to Russell, second place went to Darryl (me) and first place went to Scott & Denise. All the entries were good and tasty and keep up the good work. Next months style is American Pale Ale BJCP category 10. This style includes American Pale Ale, American Amber Ale and American Brown Ale. So get brewing and to quote the classic Relax, have a homebrew.
