MARCH, THE PRESIDENT’S LAST MEETING

Miami Area Society of Homebrewers is no more!! The club has folded in to oblivion. The membership numbers have been so low that the ranking officers of the once fine club said chuck it!!!

PISSSSS Bob Beard and I have taken all the clubs money and went to Total Wines and are now on a two hour bender. (That is all the club had 13 bottles of good beer and eighteen cent left over). BURB Sorry!! AIG has nothing on me.

April Fools, you fools

The March meeting was called to order with fifteen members in attendance and two guests. We had four officers in attendance which constituted a quorum to conduct business.

We discussed the up and coming due date for the National Homebrew competition which is March 25 to April 8. Remember there are only taking the first 750 entrants in each region. So do not delay and enter today. The Hurricane Blowoff entries are due now till April 10 so get shipping. Now if you ever wanted to judge or steward this is one of the best local competitions to do it in, other then a certain Coconut Cup. There is prejudging the weekend of April 17 and the finals the weekend of April 24. First of all the Palm Beach Draughtsman throws one great party and secondly they have always supported us in our competitions. So lets get up there and show them what MASH member are made of, (long dramatic pause) BEER! The Hogtown Brewoff is the next Florida competition and your entries are due April 27 till May 7. If you have never made the trip up there you do not know what you are missing. The final judging is May 16 and you are all welcome to come up and be part of their fun. The Hogtown Brewers put on one of the best events in Florida so do not miss the opportunity to be part of it.

BJCP exams are being held in Jacksonville, FL on May 9, 2009 and in Orlando July 26, 2009. If you want to seat for the beer judging certification test or retake any part of the test here are your next opportunities.

BIG BREW IS COMING. We have decided to brew the allgrian and extract versions of the Mild that the AHA has set forth. What we need to decide on the DATE!!! The official date is May 2, I am purposing May 3. Please contact me and the group with your suggestions. If it is on May 3 we can hold it at my house if it is on May 2 we need to fine another venue. Please start sending e-mails to the group with any and all suggestion and what is best for you and the group.

The BOTY style was category 9 Scottish and Irish Ales. We had five entries which I was very happy with. But with fifteen members I would have like to see two more entries with this style. That is my plug to get you all brewing more.

OK first place went to fooled you, third place went do Jeff for his Irish Red. Second place went to ME (Darryl the PRES) for my Irish red. And the first place entry and the winner of March BOTY is JEFF for his Wee Heavy.

Next month’s BOTY style is category 10 American Ale. This includes category 10A American Pale Ale, 10B American Amber Ale and 10C American Brown Ale. So brew you MASHers, brew and then brew again!!!! We need eight entries of the proper style next month and I set forth the challenge. (dramatic smashing of the beer stain).

Have a fun April Fools Day!

You big whoopee cushion;

April Fools
