Presidents Message for February
We had a great meeting last month with twenty-one attendees, one of which were a new member and two prospective members with their families. We also discovered that I made a mistake in last months president's message, the office of Secretary is held by Meredith Everett not Mark Kelly. Mark I am glad we did not need to use the paddles of life on you. So let's congratulate Meredith.
Here is the BIGGIE, the Coconut Cup is coming and we need your help. First we need beer case boxes for storing the entries. You will get them back after the competition if you want and they might even have beer in them or bottles. We will start judging February 15 to the 17 and we will need everybodys help with judging, stewarding and other fun stuff. Please contact Denise with what date you can help out, if not all of them. Russell and myself will be the cellar masters, which means we will cover the daily trips to the Titanic to sort new entries. We voted for medals instead of ribbons for the first, second and third place winners. We have eleven entries at meeting time already.
If anyone is interested in brewing a beer for the cast conditioned ale project please contact me for details and instructions. So far we had a Porter and Oatmeal Stout served. Both where good and did well on the beer engine.
The BOTY for January went to Mark Kelly for his ESB with the snappy name of "Marks ESB". The second and third prizes where not awarded due to lack of entries. Let gets brewing for next months BOTY!!! Speaking of February's BOTY the style is Scottish Ale category 9 A, B & C. This is a fun style to brew so lets see if we can get at least four entries.
Every MASH member needs to bring beer to the meetings. I know that you have brewed beers that you can bring to the meetings for tasting. They do not need to be the BOTY styles to bring them for your fellow MASHers to taste.
Keep brewing and get ready to donate some time to the Coconut Cup.
Your President
Darryl Hickey
