Winners are now posted. Thanks to everyone who entered!
Hoppy New Year! Thank you for electing me as President (I think). Thanks to our previous officers for all of their hard work and dedication. We've kept two officers in their comfortable, familiar postions and pressed poor Bob into double duty. Darryl Hickey is our new membership chairman. Hopefully he will have a lot to do this year. We're all looking forward to a great year for MASH.
The Winter Solstice party was a great success. Much thanks to Scott and Janice Ross for their hospitality. The weather was beautiful, the setting was idyllic, the company was genial, the food was abundant, and the beer was flowing. What more could you ask for?
My mission for the upcoming year is education. Must be a teacher thing. Several of our members have worked on improving their brewing systems and other members would probably like to hear about improvements and changes that could help them. I'd like the BOTY judging to be more about beer styles education. New members and a club fieldtrip to Chicago for the AHA Convention would also be great.
The Coconut Cup is fast approaching. Hopefully all of you have many beers to enter. If not, there is still time to brew. Don't forget a coconut beer! With much gratitude to Kevin, we will be holding the competition at Titanic again this year. We'll do most of the judging on Saturday, February1st, and do the Best of Show judging on Sunday, February 2nd. The split in days is due in part to confusion over the dates and to accomodate an out-of-country visitor who wants to participate. With any luck, it will also be because we have so many beers entered that it will take two days to judge them all!
Our regular meeting date will be the third Monday of each month at 7:30. We will meet at Titanic. The executive meeting will be on the same day at 7:00. Mark your calendars and plan to be there.
The categories for the 2003 BOTY competition have been announced and posted. The club-only categories have been identified and incorporated. Good luck to everyone.
I think this will be a great year for all of us. I'm really looking forward to the challenges ahead. In the words of my favorite captain, "Make it so!"
