President's Message for June 2006

None to start
Lots to read

It was good to see everybody the May meeting.

Shirts, Shirts and more Shirts. Denise and Scott are placing another
order for polo and oxford shirts.  Please contact them in the next day
or two so the order will be ready by conference time. They also have MASH
t-shirts for sale. They make great birthday presents, Memorial Day gifts,
Four of July giveaways or Wedding present. So drop that beer glass and
pick up the phone or computer keyboard and place your order.

On to the National Homebrewers Convention stuff. We held extensive
discussions on the food that we should server for club night. The decision
was to go with smoked fish dip and crackers, a nice Florida spread.
We will need MASH member to help server beers and food during Club night,
we will do shifts through out Club night so everybody will have ample
time to taste beers and mingle.

Our club shift For the Hospitality suite will be Thursday night 11:15pm -
1:00am which is after the Probrewers night event. We will need members
to server beer. For the Mash members that go to bed a little earlier
then some of us maybe you can help set up then catch some zzzzzzzzzz.

All of you that brewed beer for the conference need to have it ready for
transport on Tuesday June 21. I will be driving them up that evening. I
would like to thank all of you that brewed beer for the events.  The theme
for club night will be Miami Vice, jacket with t-shirts, guayaberas or
something like that.  Watch a rerun of Miami Vice to get ides and share
your ides with the group e-mail is a wonderful thing.

Last months BOTY style was "Scottish and Irish Ale" BJCP category 9. This
style includes Scottish Light 60, Scottish Heavy 70, Scottish Export 80,
Irish Red Ale and Strong scotch Ale. The entries where to say the least
light for the style so light you could not even taste them.

Next month BOTY style is BJCP category 15 German Wheat and Rye Beer
this includes Weizen/Weissbier, Dunkelweizen, Weizenbock and. Roggenbier
(German Rye Beer). Lets see if we can do a little better this month on
the entries.

When all else fails go back to basics, grind, mash, sparge, boil, ferment,
bottle and drink!

Slainte,
Darryl Jon Hickey
