First rounds results of the National Homebrew Competition have been posted. CFHB took home more awards than any of the other clubs in Florida, but guess who came in a distant second?
Darryl took two third places with a smoked beer and a traditional mead. Denise and Scott took another third place with a spiced Belgian beer.
Congratulations are also in order for Pam R., who has been to a couple of MASH meetings. She took a second place with a spiced Saison. She was kind enough to bring a bottle to the May meeting; it was wonderful!
On to Chicago!
Welocome to Patrick, our newest member! We look forward to sharing great beer experiences with you. We look forward to welcoming many other new members into our small family in the near future!
It's now time to consider the Sunshine Challenge. Send your beers and consider going up to judge. Check www.cfhb.org for more information.
National Homebrew Day is May 3. That is also the day for the 6th Annual Big Brew. This year's recipes are for a ginger beer and an Anchor Steam clone. Anyone interested in participating in the Big Brew should contact me asap.
Scott and I checked out Hopper's brewpub in Tampa recently. There are three locations. The one we stopped in at had many excellent brews, including a Royal Bohemian and a Helles. We highly recommend stopping by if you can. While we were in Tampa, we stopped by the Tampa Bay Brewing Company to sample their always excellent products. The brewing community suffered a great loss when John Doble Jr. passed away. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed.
