Hello MASHers,
The Big Brew was a great success. I understand that the beers are all conditioning well and that they'll be ready to share at the Summer Solstice party next month. Many thanks to Eric and Caroline for hosting us, to the brewers who worked hard on one of our first really hot days, and to those who brought some great food to share!
The Hogtown Brewers in Gainesville put on a great competition earlier this month. There were around 350 entries. Eric J. and I went up to judge and had a great time reconnecting with homebrewers from across the state while doing our judging duties. They had a great eight-course beer pairing dinner that features brews from Swamphead, Cigar City, and Seven Bridges. MASH brought home two medals -- a Gold in IPA for Eric J. and a Gold in Specialty beers for Denise and me.
The next competition in the Florida Circuit is First Coast Competition, hosted by the Cowford Ale Sharing Klub in Jacksonville. Entries are due between July 5th and 16th; the competition itself will be held the weekend of July 30-31.
Our club's next big event is the Summer Solstice Party. Eric and Caroline have offered to host us once again. The event will be held on Sunday, June 20th. The Solstice party will feature tastings of the Big Brew results and will also include the June meeting. As such, the June BotY competition will be held at the party.
Keep your fermenters going. See you all soon.
Cheers,
Scott
