There will be 3 tests and 8 labs to base your grade on. There will be one extra credit pretest, and one extra credit lab. There is a optional final exam which can replace your lowest test grade. Tests will be curved up to a 75 point average if the average is less than 75.
So your grade will be a percentage out of 685 points.
To help you out there are ways to make extra credit.
Correspondingly a minus indicates that you have serious flaws in the presentation.
A student who earns more then 6 pluses over the semester earns "begging rights" to be bumped up a single percentage point, which if you are border line in percentage points might get you bumped up a grade. IE a student who had 6 pluses and had earned 82% in the class would be in a good position to ask for and receive a B instead of a B-.
Repetitive submission of reports which warrant a minus will cause loss of points on subsequent labs. There is a mailing list for the class. aul-cnt4504u01@cis.fiu.edu. I will send out information via this email list. All posting to the mailing list must be done from your @fiu.edu email address.
All lab reports and tests must be turned in on paper in class the day they are due or electronically via canvas as a single PDF document. NO OTHER FORMATS WILL BE ACCEPTED. It is the students responsibility to ensure that they can email the instructor. You may want to send a test message the first week of class to confirm that your email will reach me.
