PRESIDENTS MESSAGE FOR AUGUST

At our July meeting we had thirteen members in attendance and three guests. By the end of the meeting two of our guest Brain and Kevin joined our fine club.

We finalized the Mead Day event plans. Mead Day will be held August 4 at Scott and Denise Graham's house. The fun will begin at 09:00am with four or five mead batches being brewed. I will be making lemon grass mead and I heard Russell mentioning buckwheat honey. What he will do with that is any ones guess. So bring your friends and let's have fun.

I handed out BOTY style suggestion sheet to all of the members. This suggestion sheet is for the up and coming 2008 BOTY competition. If you did not get one or where not at the meeting please contact me for a copy. Please give it some thought then fill out the sheet and return it to me. Keep in mind that what you choose is what you will brew. Also attached are the BOTY styles that we used for 2007 for your reference.

We discussed the Gluten Free beer project for December's meeting. Research needs to be done and I am working on it. If anyone would like to help with the research or presentation please let me know.

The BOTY style for the month was Strong Ale BJCP category 19. First place went to Scott and Denise Graham for the Old Froggy old ale. Second place went to me for my B Barred American Barleywine. No third place was awarded.

This month's BOTY style is Belgian and French Ale BJCP category 16. So brew, brew and brew.

See you all at the next meeting and remember the great words of somebody "Brew like you never brewed before"

You're President,

Darryl Hickey
