Postdoctoral Research Associate in Computational Sciences at Saeed Lab at FIU (Dated: April 2020)

The Parallel Computing and Data Science Lab in the School of Computing and Information Science (SCIS) at Florida International University (FIU) seeks to seeks to hire a postdoctoral research associate with a focus on development of complex algorithms and parallel computing strategies for big data. We are seeking creative people with solid analytical capabilities, versatile computational skills applicable to parallel computing, machine learning, and computational biology. Our group is committed to conducting research in computational, data, and engineering sciences in the context of biomedical, clinical, and public health disciplines and applying this knowledge to support the nation’s leading health initiatives. We have a track record of mentoring people in attaining high impact positions including but not limited to Staff Scientists positions at UC Berkeley, Tenure-track position in Kennesaw State University and Kalamazoo College. Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Research and develop algorithms and parallel computing strategies for big data obtained from scientific instruments. Although not essential, experience with big data from next generation sequencing and mass spectrometry will be preferred.

Applicants cannot have received their Ph.D. more than five years prior to the date of application and must complete all degree requirements before starting their appointment. The appointment length will be for 12 months with the potential for extension (for up to 2-3 years). Initial appointments and extensions are subject to performance and the availability of funding. Appointment after 3 years can be transformed in Research Assistant Professor positions depending on availability of funds.

Compensation Pay Band: Post Doc will be hired on NIH postdoc salaries with a minimum of US$ 52,704 for zero-year postdoc to US$ 90,000 depending on qualification and experience. However, compensation will vary with experience and skill level.
