1981 Bally Centaur Pinball Machine
This is a very nice Bally Centaur pinball machine. It is known as one of the best playing of the early Bally solid state games, and features a five-ball multiball and a ruleset designed to challenge even the best players. Some of the interesting features found in Centaur include
- Awarding of multiball with 1-2-3-4 drop targets MADE IN SEQUENCE
- Inline drop targets, struck with a captive ball!
- Under playfield magnet.
- Ability to save an outlane drain by nudging.
- Using flipper buttons to move rollover lights for increased bonus or multiballs.
- Two to Five ball multiball play.
- Great speech and reverb.
Centaur was a relatively low production game, and often played hard on location, so they are difficult to come by in nice condition.
This Centaur had its old yellowing playfield swapped out with an original playfield that was redone by Classic Playfields. The result is absolutely stunning! Because it is an original playfield, rather than a reproduction, this Centaur playfield does not have the tinting problems in the inserts that the reproductions have exhibited.
In addition to a new playfield, this game features:
- New plastics.
- New lane guides.
- New drop targets.
- Flippers completely rebuilt, with new flipper bats.
- Pop bumpers rebuilt, with new bumper caps.
- Completely rerubbered.
- New post caps.
- Red posts cleaned like new.
- Metal screws and parts tumbled and polished like new.
- New balls.
In addition,
- The score displays are bright and working.
- The reverb card, usually missing from the game is there and seems to work.
- The backglass is in nice condition.
- The cabinet is also very nice, with normal wear.
