To: quintus-sites@sics.se Subject: Quintus Prolog 3.4 Windows patch release available Dear Customer, This release contains fixes to the following Quintus Prolog 3.4 bugs on Windows 95/98/NT: * Handling of CR/LF in the DOS console. This bug affects e.g. library(lineio). * Inconsistent use of LIBCMT. This bug affects e.g. library(tcp). * Prelinked .qof files are not considered up to date in binaries. This bug affects ProWindows. * Garbage collection bugs involving lists and updating trail pointers. These bugs can generally cause incorrect answers. The latter bug is a critical one, so we recommend all customers to install this release. The release also provides: * a Visual Basic interface with full sources, for embedding Quintus Prolog into Visual Basic applications. The VB interface relies on calling Prolog code in a DLL. Thus, it is possible to build DLLs containing Prolog code to be linked dynamically into applications. The details of this can be found in the Release Notes and is exemplified by the VB interface sources. To install the release, download and run: ftp://qpftp@ftp.sics.se/controlled/prolog/quintus-prolog/pc-3.4.1/QuintusInstaller.exe NOTE: the reinstalled Quintus Prolog will still identify itself as Release 3.4. Also, relink any applications that you may have built with qld.
