Fedora Core 4 -- Custom installation on 2/7/06

The following installation options are chosen for my HP Pavilion laptop.
You may use this as a guideline and modify as per your need.

Partitions
==========
The laptop has only one hard drive (30GB) and it is partitioned
into the following four partitions using PartitionMagic software
for dual boot (Windows_XP and Fedora):
  C: 15 GB (NTFS)  -- WindowsXP    -- /dev/hda1
  X:  2 GB (FAT32) -- LinuxData    -- /dev/hda5
  W:  1.5 GB (ext3)-- Swapspace    -- /dev/hda6
  U: 10 GB (ext3)  -- LinuxSystem  -- /dev/hda7 (minimum 5GB needed)
XP can read/write on both NTFS & FAT32 partitions 
but cannot access ext3 partitions.
Fedora can read from all three types of partitions
and can write only on ext3 & FAT32 partitions.
Of course, both XP & Linux can read/write flash drives(jump drives).
Note that Swapspace parition must be at least twice the size of
Main memory and it can be accessed only by Fedora kernel (not by users).

Follow on-screen directions and complete Fedora installation.

* Monitor configuration
   HP D5258A Pavilion F50S monitor TFT 15 - 1024x768

After installation, if the monitor does not display at all,
you may switch to console mode at any time by pressing
   ctrl-alt-F1 keys at the same time
    login as root 
    cd /etc/X11
    vi xorg.conf
     make necessary changes to XFree86 configuration Monitor section
    save changes and exit
Switch back to graphics mode by pressing
   alt-F7 keys at the same time.
