Configuring vi editor ===================== When vi editor is invoked, it will first look for the vi configuration file "~/.exrc" and execute it (if found). Then it loads the file to be edited/created. To make vi editor more user friendly, certain keystrokes can be mapped into vi commands. The file ".exrc" on this web page contains the mappings for arrow keys, PageUp, PageDown, Backspace, and Delete keys. Also, it will show line numbers and show matching paranthesis. Lines exceeding the line width will be wrapped arround (no truncation). All searches will be case insensistive. To enjoy these features, download this file ".exrc" and save it in your Unix/Linux root directory. If you want to make changes to this file, edit it carefully only in Unix/Linux. --Prabu 6/15/04
