Undergraduate Committee Issues
The undergraduate committee (UGC) reviewed the bachelor of science programs in CS and IT, and proposes the following changes to the faculty:
BS in CS: Flowchart
Remove the rule "MAD2104[Discrete Math] as a prereq for CS
major declaration"
(no changes to prereq/coreq requirements)
Remove "MAD2104 as a co-requisite for COP3337"
BS in IT: Current flowchart Proposed flowchart
Remove the minor requirement
Add 9-credit outside concentration
Addition of a new core course:
HCI [will be presented by Christine]
Add HCI as a corequisite to COP3804
Addition of a new core course on Network Security: CNT4403 [will be presented by Jinpeng]
Remove COP3643 (Microcomputer Organization) and COP3348 (Intro
to Using Linux/Unix Systems)
Replace CGS3767 (Computer Operating Systems) with
a
new syllabus [will be presented by Prabakar] -- Revise
the course outcomes
Move CEN4023 (Component-Based Software Development) from
Application Development elective to core
and redesign its syllabus with web
services and integrative programming concepts (required by ABET)
with new prerequisites
as CGS4366 and CGS4854
Remove CEN4023 and CNT4403 from the CS Set1 elective
Addition of a new elective track:
Informatics [will be
presented by Tim]
The
purpose of this track
is to prepare students to take courses in informatics
, as well as to pursue the MS-in-IT
