Subject: COP-1XXX Course Proposal

Hi Prabu,

I am attaching a new course proposal for CS-0 Programming.

Here is the history. Last year, Malek as part of his BPC grant with UTEP
asked Masoud to create a CS-0 Alice course for high school students,
taught by Tariq King in Summer B. Since this was very last minute, Masoud
created an experimental course, approved by the Dean as a one-time-only
offering, but not submitted to the university, and possibly not vetted by
the faculty (I don't remember).

Now Malek wants to offer the course again. I have asked him to explain
this to the Dean since the School gave its word that this was one time
only, and he will before we move forward. But it makes sense for us to get
this course on the books for the future. The syllabus is attached, based
on what Tariq covered last summer. The syllabus also has links to other
courses that are similar.

This course would be for high school dual enrollments. It could be a
service course at some point, or even be taken optionally by CS or IT
majors prior to Programming I, though I have no plans as of now to ever
offer it as a regular course Fall-Spring course.

When I hear back from Malek, I would like for this to be ready to go.
