A three-credit course to replace the Ethics course has been proposed at http://users.cis.fiu.edu/~weiss/bscs/RevisedEthics.doc Norman has marked up some comments. Because Pat is an adjunct, someone else will need to take over as coordinator. You can put Norman's name on it, or me if he is uncomfortable with it. Please have the curriculum committee look at this and decide if it is ready to go and if it should replace CGS-3092. This would be a new course, new number, new title, new everything. Organizationally, this change is trivial to implement with no faculty resources needed and students have long complained that the amount of work required in CGS-3092 justified a two or three credit course. If approved, we can also (with exceptionally minor tweaking) have this be a global learning course. I have shown the draft to Stephanie Doscher, Associate Director in OGL, and she loves the course and is willing to come to us for an hour to put the course in GL shape. We would not have to send anyone to attend the normal two day workshop. This course is the last major piece of the proposed restructuring for the CS program. Other changes, such as the format of COP-3337, whether Set 1 and Set 2 electives should combine, etc., can all be considered at once, perhaps for Bulletin #2, but definitely by Bulletin #5.
