Agenda for Meeting on Wed 4/6/16 10:00am-Noon ECS-349 Present: Norman, Prabu, Tim, Cristy, Michael Agenda: Another IT elective area (concentration) on Cyber Security EEL 4789 - Ethical Hacking and Countermeasures (CNT4403 would waive this course requirement) EEL 4802 - Introduction to Digital Forensics Engineering Prereq: (EEL4789 or permission of the instructor) EEL 4804 - Introduction Malware Reverse Engineering Prereq: (EEL4789 or permission of the instructor) Recommendation: - This area is very important and essential for IT program - It is a key area of ACM Info Assurance and Security - A subcommittee of SCIS faculty knowledgeable in Security area should formulate a proposal (requirements, prereq, justification, course outcomes) for all courses in this area and prepare curriculum for these courses; also how it fits into IT curriculum - The subcommittee should evaluate if any of ECE courses cover all course outcomes and then decide if those ECE courses can be substituted for these courses Programming course subcommittee recommendation: - Python, Javascript and Java - Programming languages for IT courses - Programming languages for CS courses Recommendation: - Students before enrolling in COP2210/COP2250, conduct a self assessment (e.g. view certain videos, view online tutorials, and take an online evaluation quiz) either through Panthersoft or during orientation sessions to evaluate their preparedness (somewhat similar to Math Dept Alex software). - Students who are deficient are recommended to enroll in COP 1000 - In the CS/IT Flowchart, include COP 1000 as a recommended course prior to COP 2210/2250. - Revise IDC 1000 as a global learning course Revised cop3804 outcomes Next meeting: Wed (4/13/16)
