I have another meeting to prepare for the Student Success part of the CEC meeting tomorrow. Below is an email that Shu-Ching forwarded to me for my comment last week. My reply to him is to table it with the undergraduate committee. I am sure someone like Pat will have a say since she has been teaching security courses. If there is time, please share and let Shu-Ching know. best, Tiana ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Thu, 4 Oct 2018 10:28:01 -0400 From: Samuel Lamboy To: chens@cs.fiu.edu Subject: Concerned Student Good Morning Dr.Chen, It has been brought to my attention that students with Engineering majors have access to IT and CS curriculum classes like OS and Web construct management as electives. I am concerned because as an IT major under the school of engineering and computer sciences, I do not have access to classes like Ethical Hacking, Malware Analysis, and Digital Forensics. These classes and others like them would greatly enhance our skill set with in the IT and Cyber security realm. The only problem is we do not have access to them, and our advisers do not make them apart of our degree audit, because they do not count towards graduation. I wanted to inform you of this, because from my understanding I believe that this career path in IT and Cyber security is in exponential growth, and this would benefit it greatly. -- Best Regards, Samuel Lamboy
