UGC Meeting-6: 10/29/18 10:30am - noon ECS-349 Present: Bill, Erica, Pat, Prabu, Rick, Ruth, Tiana, Tim, Trevor Agenda: * COP-3337 enrollment statistics (Bill Feild's email) (transfer students with different levels of programming experience) To validate the student preparedness for COP-3337, * a common (comparable level/material) final exam for all sections of COP-2210 - All COP-2210 instructors need to involve in this exam preparation and meet with COP-3337 instructors for relevant feedback. - Associate Dir & Asst. Dir ensure that all instructors follow the course outcomes in the course delivery. * all transfer students need to take a similar exam before admitted to COP-3337/COP-3804. * Choose textbooks that have problem solving approaches (e.g. Walter Savitch) * Identify video collections on critical thinking from lynda.com e.g. https://www.edx.org/course/logic-and-computational-thinking-1 - review once-a-year Panthersoft course equivalencies(C, C++, Python, etc.) using the transfer students' performance statistics in COP-3337 * Discussion on the class size changes (subcommittee recommendations - Tim) Programming courses: does not include adequate problem solving experience (critical thinking skills) This will be addressed at a later time after data collection.
