Agenda: Strategies for restructuring the undergraduate curriculum (BS in CS)

 * Reduce the number of existing required courses
   to allow students to specialize in emerging courses
   - decrease the prerequisite chain

 * create three or four elective groups
    - Theory/Algorithms
    - Systems
    - Applications/Programming
    - ?Overlap (AI, Security, Bigdata)

 * Lab (0-credit) for programming courses:
    - COP 2210
    - COP 2250
    - COP 3337
    - COP 3804
  Syllabi for the lab courses   
  How to effectively engage with students in lab sessions
     one-on-one session 
  Lab rooms for all sessions
  Lab support (TA/LA) -- additional funding is needed
  Accountability for TA/LA through students periodic feedback
  Team/group based learning for labs with TA/LA as team leader
  Associate each lab session to a course (for effective instructor/TA-LA interaction) 
  Reduce COP-2210 from 4-credit to 3-credit with 0-credit for lab (reduce tuition revenue)
  Adjuncts (in place TA/LA) can take care of several lab sessions and
   interact with instructors in designing labs
