Subject: Alejandro Martinez - 3625175 - Linear Algrebra (fwd) From: Shu-Ching Chen Date: 11/20/2019, 9:42 AM To: Nagarajan Prabakar CC: Sitharama Iyengar Prabu,     This is a very good suggestion to include linear algebra as one of the electives for our undergradaute degrees, especially for BSCS and BACS. For example, we can add MAS 3105 linear algebra to be one of the elective courses for our BSCS Foundations group.     Please discuss with undergradaute committee to consider to add it as one of the electives. I graduated as a Civil Engineer and now I decided to come back to get another degree in Computer Science. I am surprised to see you also hold degrees in those fields. I first wanted to thank you for making the curriculum way more flexible and appealing for us as students! Honestly, thank you. The whole degree just became way more enjoyable. Now there is a suggestion that I wanted to make. There is a class called linear algebra MAS 3105 that is very useful in machine learning, the focus of my career. This is a very important subject in AI as we deal with so many different variables. The reason of my email is because I believe this subject should also count as an elective as it is literally one of the foundation subjects to be great at machine learning applications, one of the most important industries of computer science today.  I know you are very busy but I would love to know your feedback on this. And probably, with sum luck, make it part of the curriculum.  I look forward to hear from you! All the best, Alejandro
