It can be one of the five electives (Systems/Security concentration) for IT majors * CGS 4854 "Website Construction and Management" It cannot be a CS elective since COP-3530 is not a prereq. Not qualified for CS elective groups (doesn't meet ABET requirements) - Upper limit for online classes for Required courses [CGS-3767] (max 150). If more than x students enrolled, should the teaching load be considered for additional FTE load? - Differential Assignment Policy should determine the value for x. - Unified Programming-I course for all SCIS majors Current state: COP-2210 (3 + 1Lab cr) - for CS & IT-Software majors COP-2250 (3 cr) - for other SCIS majors (IT & CyS) Issues of concern: Analytical gap between the CS & IT students Minimize attrition rate in IT majors Credit discrepancy Students take advantage of switching major & credit discrepancy) Lab management UGC: Q1: Should we teach one course for all SCIS majors in the first programming course? (COP-3804 and COP-3337 need to be restructured) No: 3; Yes: 3 Undecided by UGC Q2: Should we teach the first programming course in Python/Java? Undecided by UGC. Q3: Should we replace COP-2250, COP-3804, CGS-4854 with a three new programming course sequence in Python for IT/CyS majors? UGC: Unanimously supports this proposal.
