Achievements

Created an up-to-date and accessible learning environment by continuously planning, implementing and reviewing hardware and software upgrades and installations in a Windows NT/XP environment with three servers and 60 workstations serving over 800 active users of the Advanced Undergraduate Computer Laboratory (FIU).  Interviewed and hired staff, created work schedules, generated user accounts, monitored resource allocations and provided end user support.

Improved the efficiency of the School of Computing and Information Science (FIU) support staff by creating procedures to prioritize, delegate and track requests for software, hardware and network support of over 1,000 users comprised of faculty, administrative staff, students and researchers.  Managed support staff to ensure the completion and quality of hardware and software installations and upgrades. 

Increased network access by streamlining and publishing user network connection procedures and created departmental documentation to process workstation network connection requests in a newly upgraded and rapidly expanding LAN at the School of Public Health (UNC).

  • Coordinate the purchase, installation, configuration and deployment of PCs to end users in the School of Computing and Information Science.
  • Review and recommend hardware and software prior to purchase.
  • Managed the maintenance of Peachtree Accounting software for SCIS department accountant.
  • Perform regular system backups and resource management for seven Windows NT servers.
  • Administered VAX computer systems in process control environments.
  • Performed database management for real-time process control and monitoring systems.
  • Wrote and assembled documentation, procedures and training manuals for numerous projects.
