Dr. Iyengar, Ryder Professor and Director of School of Computing & Information Sciences at FIU is the Founding Editor-in-Chief for the journal entitled "International Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks" published by Taylor and Francis/CRC press . The focus of this journal will be to develop a theoretical as well as applications to real systems that seems necessary for distributed sensor networks to achieve its full potential. In 2011, the journal transferred administrative control to the Hindawi Publishing Corporation.

Dr. Iyengar and Nulogix received Florida innovation Award
Dr. Iyengar and Nulogix were awarded third prize in the 2012 Innovation 2 Industry (i2i) Florida competition. The innovative and patented technology invented by the team enables a person to see changes in intra ocular pressure by observing their eye using a small hand held device. - Dr. Iyengar recevied The Association of Scientist and Developers and Faculty Award, 2012The Association of Scientist and Developers and Faculty (ASDF) award 2012 committee has selected for distinguished faculty in India. This is in recognition is for mentoring and reviewing over 60 Ph.D thesis in Indian Universities, which includes IISc, IIT's, ISI, Calcutta and various universities in India.
