Teachers demonstrate a sound understanding of technology operations and concepts.
I. A:
Teachers demonstrate introductory knowledge, skills and understanding of concepts related to technology (as described in the ISTE National Educational Standards for Students).
Demonstration of Mastery:
During my Introduction to Web Design course, I acquired an essential, basic understanding of how to build websites using raw HTML code. This is important skill taught me how this Internet “web” that I navigate daily, is put together. The process of planning and developing a website gave me insights to better recognize well designed and appropriate sites for my students. I have learned to use various programs with efficient results, for example, the Powerpoint presentation I created for Technology Coordination.
I. B:
Teachers demonstrate continual growth in technology knowledge and skills to stay abreast of current and emerging technologies.
Demonstration of Mastery:
Clearly, this Portfolio is evidence that my knowledge of website development has grown over the course of this program. This has been a wonderful process, pulling together and reviewing my work, and I believe it is showcased well in this Portfolio. I was able to define and create a plan to use web tools to disseminate information to parents in my Technology Leadership course. This plan used existing web services, as well as the creation of web pages within the school, to inform parents about events, assignments and activities their children might be involved with. In Technology Coordination, I built a technology support plan detailing computer lab growth and development. The details of this plan demonstrate my understanding of the technology supported in that Computer Science environment and indicates paths for including new technologies as they are introduced.
