Teachers implement curriculum plans that include methods and strategies for applying technology to maximze student learning.
III. A:
Teachers facilitate technology-enhanced experiences that address content standards and student technology standards.
Demonstration of Mastery:
I have three artifacts that demonstrate proficiency of this standard. First, is the work I completed creating a Technology Integrated Learning Plan. This plan designed a method for providing students with better skills to use the computer lab in my department, Computer Science. My second artifact is the grant plan I wrote seeking funding to provide an educational game for a high school civics course. The third artifact I would like to present which demonstrates my ability to facilitate technology enhanced experiences for students is the WebQuest I compiled. The subject of this WebQuest was the American Frontier which is standards based for content and technology.
III. B:
Teachers use technology to support learner-centered strategies that address the diverse needs of students.
Demonstration of Mastery:
I was able to design and build a WebQuest that demonstrates an understanding learners needs. The Jason Project, Math Adventures program that I assessed is another excellent example of how I met this standard. I feel that the best work I accomplished demonstrating my mastery of this standard is the Case Study I completed for the Technology Leadership course. This study analyzed technologies that are available to assist Deaf students in learning environments. Because these technologies allow a Deaf student to work independently, the work becomes more learner-centered.
III. C:
Teachers apply technology to develop students' higher order skills and creativity.
Demonstration of Mastery:
The work I accomplished evaluating the Jason Project, Math Adventure meets this standard well. All of the technology based learning at the Jason Project site (http://www.JasonProject.org/) requires students it employ higher order thinking skills and creativity. I modeled my design for the American Frontier WebQuest using rubrics from the WebQuest master site so that it would be an highly effective learning tool. This WebQuest is a solid example of how I have mastered this standard.
III. D:
Teachers manage student learning activities in a technology-enhanced environment.
Demonstration of Mastery:
The Jason Project, Math Adventures and the American Frontier WebQuest are examples that support mastery of this standard. Additionally, my Concerns Based Adoption Model project from the Diffusion of Innovation course meets this requirement well. This project evaluated a course management system as it has been adopted and implemented in my department. The tool assessed was Moodle and there is evidence in this study that student learning and faculty efficiency have both improved as a result of this implementation.
