V. Productivity and Professional Practice
Teachers use technology to enhance their prodcutivity and professonal practice

V. A:

Teachers use technology resources to engage in ongoing professional development and lifelong learning.

Demonstration of Mastery:

The best example I can provide for using technology for my professional development is this Portfolio and this master's program. The breadth of learning encapsulated here is vast and completing this program will allow me to move my career to a higher level. This Portfolio is a "living" document which will continue to showcase my professional achievements and development. The Staff Development Plan devised for the Technology Leadership course outlines a plan of advancement for teachers in a local school district. This is evidence that I am able to use technology in professional development contexts.

V. B:

Teachers continually evaluate and reflect on professional practice to make informed decisions regarding the use of technology in support of student learning.

Demonstration of Mastery:

The staff development plan I formulated for the Technology Leadership course describes how teachers will be informed and trained in applications and resources available for their use in classrooms. This work allows faculty participating in the training to make informed decisions about technology available that will enhance student learning. During the Technology Coordination course, I created a training plan for the technology support team. The support team is responsible to provide technology resources and applications to facilitate and enhance student learning.

V. C:

Teachers apply technology to increase productivity.

Demonstration of Mastery:

In my work as a Helpdesk and Computer Lab Manager I am responsible to supervise several student technicians and lab assistants. Communication among the technicians, lab assistants, users and faculty is critical if the equipment and technology we are providing to our student users is to be used effectively for learning. In my Introduction to Web Design course I planned and built a website to help centralize information within my group. The result of this implementation was increased productivity of my staff and increased user efficiency among the students. The Concerns Based Adoption Model study I completed tracked the implementation of the Moodle course management system in my department. This work exemplifies how instructors improve productivity through the adoption of this system. A discussion board posting I made during Technology Leadership course describes an equipment deployment model we use to deliver laptop and projector kits to faculty in classrooms. This solution allows faculty access to technology in classrooms that are not equipped, while not requiring them to setup and take down equipment themselves during valuable instruction time.

V. D:

Teachers use technology to communicate and collaborate with peers, parents, and the larger community in order to nurture student learning.

Demonstration of Mastery:

The website I designed for Introduction to Web Development was created specifically to improve communication among my staff and our users. Topics like lab usage policy, lab schedules and our service level agreement create appropriate expectation of service for users and clarify service parameters for staff while they are on duty. This transparency in service improves the lab learning environment which enhances learning opportunities. Another artifact I offer is my model for dissemination of information to parents in a school community. I chose to create a model using e-mail and web-based communications in order to ease the effort involved for teachers to communicate to parents.
